About this publication

McGee, David, Parliamentary Practice in New Zealand, 3rd ed., Dunmore Publishing Limited, Wellington, 2005. Available for purchase from the Parliament Shop in the Parliament Visitor Centre, from bookshops, or direct from the publisher, Dunmore Publishing.

This substantial reference book provides a comprehensive guide to the practices and procedures of the New Zealand House of Representatives. David McGee CNZM QC was the Clerk of the House of Representatives from 1985 to 2007.

The third edition is published electronically here for reference, in the form in which it was published in 2005. Some procedures and practices have changed since that time, and the Standing Orders have been amended and renumbered. The text of the Standing Orders as they stood in 2005 is included in an Appendix. While every effort has been made to check this electronic version of the work, the book as published in 2005 remains the authoritative version. If you have any feedback, please use the email form provided under ‘Email contacts’.
