MP to attend governance seminar
6 November 2009
Kelvin Davis MP, Labour, will attend a Commonwealth Parliamentary Association (CPA) International Parliamentary Governance Seminar in London from 9 to 21 November, 2009, at the invitation of the UK Branch of the CPA.
“Experiencing and discussing democratic principles first hand with my Commonwealth colleagues will provide a learning opportunity which I can then share with the New Zealand Parliament”, he said.
Focus for the seminar is the principles of parliamentary democracy and good governance, and the programme will include discussions on governance issues, challenges arising out of devolution, relationships between the European Union and Commonwealth countries and the work of constituency members of Parliament.
Based at the Houses of Parliament in London, the Seminar also includes a visit to the European Parliament and the Scottish Parliament, providing a professional development opportunity for a new MP.
Fifty five Parliamentarians from around the Commonwealth will attend the CPA UK seminar.
