New Zealand Parliament hosts Canadian delegation
A Canadian Commonwealth Parliamentary Association (CPA) delegation is visiting the New Zealand Parliament this week.
The delegation, including two members of the Canadian Senate and five members of the House of Commons, will meet with the Speaker of the New Zealand House of Representatives, the Hon Dr Lockwood Smith.
The aim of the CPA is to promote parliamentary knowledge and cooperation among members of Parliaments within the Commonwealth.
The Canadian delegation is interested in looking at the role of Opposition parties and members of Parliament within New Zealand, and the work carried out in our select committees.
Discussions will also be held on the work of the CPA and on opportunities for professional development that the association offers members of Parliament and parliamentary staff.
During their visit the Canadian delegation will also hold discussions with the Clerk of the House, Mary Harris, and attend a meeting of the Government Administration Committee.
