House of Representatives to meet on 20 December

The first meeting of the House of Representatives of the 50th Parliament will be at 11 am on Tuesday, 20 December.

The main events on 20 December will be the members being sworn in and the election of the Speaker.

The State Opening of Parliament will be on Wednesday, 21 December. The Governor-General will come to Parliament House to formally open the 50th Parliament, delivering the Speech from the Throne, which sets out the Government’s legislative plans.

Both events will be broadcast live on Parliament TV and on the radio.
