2011 Standing Orders available

The latest edition of the Standing Orders of the House of Representatives is now available. The House adopted new Standing Orders before it rose for the general election. These Standing Orders took effect on 21 October 2011, following the dissolution of the 49th Parliament.

The Standing Orders are the rules for the operation of the House and its committees. The House generally reviews these each parliamentary term and makes some amendments near the end of the term, coming into force after that term has ended.

You can find out about the changes and why they were made by reading the report of the Standing Orders Committee.

The new Standing Orders are available on this website. Printed copies can be purchased from Bennetts Government Bookshops.
