Parliamentary parties

There are seven parliamentary parties in the 49th Parliament — ACT New Zealand, Green Party, Labour Party, Māori Party, National Party, Progressive, and United Future.

National Party

The New Zealand National Party (National Party) is the largest partner in the National-led Government. It has 58 members of Parliament in the House of which 41 represent electorates. National Party

Labour Party

The New Zealand Labour Party (Labour Party) has 43 members of Parliament, led by Hon Phil Goff. The party is in opposition. Labour Party

Green Party

The Green Party of Aotearoa / New Zealand (Green Party) is an Opposition party. The Green Party has nine members of Parliament in the House all elected from the party list. Green Party

ACT New Zealand

ACT New Zealand has five members of Parliament, led by Hon Rodney Hide, Minister of Local Government. The party has a confidence and supply arrangement with the National-led government ACT New Zealand

Māori Party

The Māori Party has five members of Parliament. It has a confidence and supply arrangement with the National-led government. Māori Party

Progressive

Jim Anderton’s Progressive (Progressive) has one member of Parliament. It is an opposition party. Progressive
