10025 (2006). Sue Kedgley to the Minister of Police (02 Aug 2006): Does the fast food restaurant McDonalds or Ronald McDonald Charity contribute money to the primary school New Zealand Police Road Safe Series programme; if so, how much?
Hon Annette King (Minister of Police) replied: Hon Annette King (Minister of Police) replies: I am advised that McDonald's contributes $40,000 to the Police Road Safe Series programme. I am further advised McDonald's is not involved in deciding how funding is spent. McDonald's has donated funds in the area of School Road Safety Education since the 1980s. These funds have been used to purchase School Traffic Safety Team uniforms as well as educational material used in school road safety education. McDonald's has been involved in the "Make it Click" seatbelt campaign that has been very successful in raising awareness about the need to wear seatbelts. A further part of the relationship with Police is the Ronald McDonald school show. This response also answers question for written answer 10026 (2006).
