967 (2010). Lynne Pillay to the Minister of Police (includes responsibility for Serious Fraud Office) (09 Feb 2010): How many cases of indecent assault were reported in each of the past three years and to date in the current year and how many of those cases were closed after the victim decided not to pursue their attacker further?
Hon Judith Collins (Minister of Police (includes responsibility for Serious Fraud Office)) replied: I am advised that official statistics, up to the year ending 30 June 2009, on indecent assault offences are publicly available on the Statistics New Zealand website. Official statistics are published twice yearly. The next release will be for the year ending 31 December 2009 to be published on 1 April 2010. Police do not maintain statistics on the number of cases closed after the victim decided not to pursue their attacker further.
