The House resumed the adjourned debate on the question, That a respectful Address be presented to His Excellency the Governor-General in reply to His Excellency’s speech, and the amendment proposed thereto.

3. Application to debate matter of urgent public importance

The Speaker informed the House that Hon David Parker had sought to move, That the House take note of a matter of urgent public importance, for the purpose of debating the decision of the High Court that the Ministers’ consent to the overseas investment to be made by Milk New Zealand in the Crafar farms be set aside.

The Speaker informed the House that he had declined the application.

4. Order of the day for Address in Reply

The House resumed the adjourned debate on the question, That a respectful Address be presented to His Excellency the Governor-General in reply to His Excellency’s speech, and the amendment proposed thereto.

Resolved, That the debate be now adjourned (Dr Paul Hutchison).

5. Applications to debate matter of urgent public importance

The Speaker notified the House that Dr Russel Norman and Rt Hon Winston Peters had each indicated their desire to move, That the House take note of a matter of urgent public importance, for the purpose of debating the requirement that the Minister for Land Information and the Associate Minister of Finance must reconsider their decision to approve Milk New Zealand’s application to buy the Crafer farms as a result of a decision of the High Court on 15 February 2012, and the outcome and effects of the decision on current Government policy.

The Speaker informed the House that he had declined the applications.
