Petition of Quentin Duthie

Requests that the House of Representatives note that 1,836 people have signed a Royal Forest and Bird Society e-petition opposing Government plans to open up some of New Zealand's most precious conservation land, Schedule 4, to mining; that tens-of-thousands of people marched or rallied in Auckland, Wellington and Nelson in opposition to the plans; and that nearly 40,000 submissions on the plan were presented to the Ministry of Economic Development; and that the House investigate whether Schedule 4 of the Crown Minerals Act 1991 protects enough of New Zealand's core conservation areas from mining, in particular whether all World Heritage Areas, Ecological Areas and Marine Mammal Sanctuaries should be added to the Schedule.
