Electoral Legislation
The committee will meet on 12 July in Wellington to hear evidence on the Electoral Referendum Bill and the Electoral (Finance Reform and Advanced Voting) Amendment Bill. On 13 July the committee will meet in Auckland to hear evidence on the Electoral Referendum Bill, and on 15 July in Christchurch to hear evidence on the Electoral Referendum Bill and the Electoral (Finance Reform and Advanced Voting) Amendment Bill.

Foreign Affairs, Defence and Trade
The committee did not meet this week.
The committee is inviting public submissions on three treaties; the Convention on Jurisdiction, Applicable Law, Recognition, Enforcement and Co-operation in respect of Parental Responsibility and Measures for the Protection of Children; the Exchange of Letters between New Zealand and Australia Constituting an Agreement to Amend Article 3 of the Australia New Zealand Closer Economic Relations Trade Agreement (“ANZCERTA”); and the Agreement to Amend the Product Specific Rules in Annex G of the ANZCERTA. The closing date for submissions on each treaty is 15 July 2010.
The committee is also inviting public submissions on the Tariff (New Zealand-Hong Kong, China Closer Economic Partnership Agreement) Amendment Bill. This bill amends the tariff as part of the implementation of the bilateral trade agreement, completed in Hong Kong on 29 March 2010. Amendments to the tariff will enable the application of preferential tariff rates under the New Zealand–Hong Kong, China Closer Economic Partnership Agreement. The closing date for submissions on the bill is 15 July 2010.
