Auckland Regional Amenities Funding Bill

Public submissions have been called on the Auckland Regional Amenities Funding Bill.

The closing date for submissions was Monday, 5 November 2007.

This bill establishes a statutory framework for the secure and sustainable funding of organisations that provide arts, education, rescue or other community facilities or services used or relied on by people throughout the Auckland region.

These organisations are:

  • Auckland Observatory and Planetarium Trust Board;
  • Auckland Philharmonia;
  • Auckland Regional Rescue Helicopter Trust;
  • Auckland Theatre Company Limited;
  • Coastguard Northern Region Incorporated;
  • New Zealand National Maritime Trust Board;
  • New Zealand Opera Limited;
  • Surf Life Saving Northern Region Incorporated;
  • The Auckland Festival Trust;
  • Watersafe Auckland Incorporated.

Auckland Zoo will receive funding under the bill, subject to it first being established as a separate entity.

The committee requires 2 copies of each submission if made in writing. Those wishing to include any information of a private or personal nature in a submission should first discuss this with the clerk of the committee, as submissions are usually released to the public by the committee. Those wishing to appear before the committee to speak to their submissions should state this clearly and provide a daytime telephone contact number.
