Changes to the House’s sitting programme

The House has agreed that Wednesday 14 November will be a members’ day, and two further extended sittings have been scheduled in December.

Members’ day normally occurs on every second sitting Wednesday. On a members’ day priority is given to considering private, local, and members’ bills and other matters such as select committee inquiry reports. The decision to hold a members’ day next week means that there will be members’ days two weeks in a row. The following members’ day will now be Wednesday 5 December.

The Business Committee has also agreed to two further extended sittings this year. The sitting on Tuesday 4 December will be extended from 9.00 a.m. to 1.00 p.m. on Wednesday 5 December for consideration of four bills. The sitting on Wednesday 5 December will be extended from 9.00 a.m. to 1.00 p.m. on Thursday 6 December for consideration of three bills.

The committee agreed in September that the sitting on Wednesday 14 November be extended from 9.00 a.m. to 1.00 p.m. on Thursday 15 November for the third readings of two Treaty of Waitangi claim settlement bills.

The House will adopt a sitting programme for 2013 before it adjourns at the end of the year.
