Papakura: Electoral Profile

General Notes

Newly created in 2007, the Papakura electorate replaces parts of the Clevedon, Port Waikato, and Manurewa electorates. Centred on the Papakura urban area, its eastern and southern boundaries skirt around Alfriston, Ardmore, and Drury. The northern boundary is marked by the suburbs of Wattle Downs, Takanini, and Manurewa East to the east of the motorway. Kingseat and Clarks Beach are to the west.

Between the 2001 and 2006 censuses the usually resident population of Papakura increased 17.0% to 68,304 – compared to an eight percent increase across New Zealand as a whole. Of dwellings, less than two-thirds (61.8%) are owner-occupied, similar to the New Zealand average (62.7%).
