A parliamentary delegation led by the Speaker of the House, Dr The Rt Hon Lockwood Smith, is visiting Brazil, Argentina, Uruguay and Chile for 10 days. The purpose of the visit is to strengthen parliamentary and economic links with those countries. Delegation members will have the opportunity to make connections in countries that will play an important part in our country’s future, as well as furthering New Zealand’s interests in the region.

Parliament welcomes a host of visitors - from the New Zealand public and schools wanting to understand more about democracy, to casual tourists in Wellington, to the many cruise ships that now call into port. But it provides a special welcome for distinguished visitors who come on matters of State such as the State visit by their Majesties King Juan Carlos 1 and Queen Sofia of Spain.
