2493 (2010). Hon Darren Hughes to the Minister of Transport (19 Mar 2010): Will the Government be considering the higher road maintenance costs caused by increased numbers of heavy trucks when it decides on the future of the Napier-Gisborne line?
Hon Steven Joyce (Minister of Transport) replied: Consideration will be given to all impacts in making any decision on the future of the Napier-Gisborne line. A previous study by Transit NZ showed the line's closure would lead to an extra six to eight trucks per day between Napier and Gisborne.
