990 (2010). Keith Locke to the Minister of Agriculture (10 Feb 2010): How many times over the past two years, in accord with legislation governing their activities, have animal welfare inspectors and auxiliary officers under warrant entered and searched any place and in the process accessed and copied material on a computer or computers located in the premises; and how many prosecutions have resulted?
Hon David Carter (Minister of Agriculture) replied: I am informed that there were five occasions that MAF officials accessed and copied material on a computer or computers located in premises under the provisions of a search warrant. I understand that two have resulted in prosecution and three remain under investigation. Please note that the Ministry does not hold the relevant information on accredited SPCA inspectors, only on MAF animal welfare inspectors.
