Hon Darren Hughes to the Minister of Transport (19 Mar 2010): With substantial plantation forests now maturing in the region served by the now closed Stratford to Okahukura railway line, has any thought been given to the impact of logging trucks operating on the road through Whangamomona, particularly in light of the strong tourist growth in the area?
Hon Steven Joyce (Minister of Transport) replied: The potential for future log traffic will be one of many issues considered when a decision is made by KiwiRail on the future of the line.
