The presentation of two reports was announced.

The following bills were set down for second reading:

  • Whakarewarewa and Roto-a-Tamaheke Vesting Bill
  • Settlement Systems, Futures, and Emissions Units Bill

3. Introduction of bills

The introduction of the Road User Charges Amendment Bill was announced and the bill set down for first reading.

4. Ministerial statement

Hon Tony Ryall made a ministerial statement relating to the H1N1 influenza outbreak.

5. Questions for oral answer

Twelve questions to Ministers were answered.

6. Imprest Supply Bill

The Imprest Supply (First for 2009/10) Bill was introduced, read a first time, and set down for second reading forthwith.

Hon Bill English moved, and the question was proposed, That the Appropriation (2008/09 Supplementary Estimates) Bill and the Imprest Supply (First for 2009/10) Bill be now read a second time.

Resolved, That the Emissions Trading Scheme Review Committee consider the Climate Change Response (Emissions Trading Forestry Sector) Amendment Bill, that the committee report finally to the House on or before 26 June 2009, and that the committee have authority to meet at any time while the House is sitting (except during oral questions), and during any evening on a day on which there has been a sitting of the House, and on a Friday in a week in which there has been a sitting of the House, despite Standing Orders 187 and 190(1)(b) and (c).

By leave, agreed that the Climate Change Response (Emissions Trading Forestry Sector) Amendment Bill be set down for second reading as Government Order of the Day No 1 on Tuesday, 30 June 2009, and that its remaining stages be taken on that day and concluded by 9.50 pm.

2. Membership of Parliamentary Service Commission

By leave, agreed that, pursuant to section 15(1)(d) of the Parliamentary Service Act 2000, Chris Tremain be appointed as a member of the Parliamentary Service Commission in place of Hon Nathan Guy.

3. Member’s motion

Resolved, That this House express its support for all Iranian citizens who strive for a free and democratic society; ask the Iranian government not to use force against peaceful demonstrators; call for an end to government restrictions on the media and support an impartial examination of the recent Iranian election result in the light of widespread concerns as to its legitimacy (Keith Locke).
