The committee will next meet on 5 March to conduct a hearing of evidence on the 2007/08 financial review of Genesis Power Limited, to consider the financial review of the Ministry of Economic Development, to hear submissions on the Settlement Systems, Futures, and Emissions Units Bill, and to consider three international treaties: the Final Acts of the Plenipotentiary Conference, Antalya 2006, Final Acts of the World Radiocommunication Union Conference, Geneva 2007, and the International treaty examination of the Revised Constitution of the Asia-Pacific Telecommunity.

Emissions Trading Scheme

The committee will next meet on 5 March to consider the review of the Emissions Trading Scheme. The committee will be hearing evidence from the Minister for Climate Change Issues, Hon Dr Nick Smith. The meeting will be open to the public between 10.00am and 11.00am.
Finance and Expenditure
The committee met on 25 February to hear evidence on the 2007/08 financial reviews of The Treasury, the Office of the Controller and Auditor-General, and the Inland Revenue Department, and to consider the Taxation (Business Tax Measures) Bill.
The committee will next meet on 4 March to hear evidence on the 2007/08 financial review of the Reserve Bank of New Zealand, and continue its consideration of other items of business before it.
Foreign Affairs, Defence and Trade
The committee did not meet this week.
The committee will next meet on 5 March to consider the 2007/08 financial reviews of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade, the Ministry of Defence and the New Zealand Defence Force. The committee will also receive a briefing from the Office of the Auditor-General on progress made on its performance audit on major defence acquisitions and consider its inquiry into New Zealand’s relationship with South Pacific countries.
Government Administration

The committee will next meet on 4 March to hear evidence on the 2007/08 financial reviews of the Ministry for Culture and Heritage and the Ministry of Pacific Island Affairs as well as considering the Copyright (Artists’ Resale Right) Amendment Bill and the Cultural Property (Protection in Armed Conflict) Bill.
