The closing date for submissions was Friday, 16 May 2008.
The Finance and Expenditure Committee has called previously for submissions on the Financial Advisers Bill. It is now making another call for submissions on a revised definition of “financial adviser”, which is narrower, and would capture only those whose primary business is the provision of financial advice or who regularly provide such advice in the course of their business. The committee is also calling for submissions on a proposal to change the regulatory model outlined in the Financial Advisers Bill to provide for the Securities Commission to undertake the functions and powers of the new regime, rather than industry-led approved professional bodies.
A copy of these proposals is available in PDF format from the ‘Downloads’ panel.
The committee requires 2 copies of each submission to be made in writing. Those wishing to include any information of a private or personal nature in a submission should first discuss this with the clerk of the committee, as submissions are usually released to the public by the committee. To assist with administration please supply your postcode and an email address if you have one.
Further guidance on making a submission can be found from the Making a Submission to a Parliamentary Select Committee link in the in the ‘Related links’ panel.
