  • The committee did not meet this week.
  • The committee will next meet on 18 June to consider the Electricity (Continuance of Supply) Amendment Bill, the Settlement Systems, Futures, and Emissions Units Bill, and to hear evidence on the 2009/10 Estimates for Vote Commerce.

Education and Science

  • The committee did not meet this week.

  • The committee will next meet on 17 June to hear evidence on the Student Loan Scheme (Repayment Bonus) Amendment Bill, and to hear evidence from the Office of the Ombudsmen on the committee’s briefing on the role of the Ombudsman in making decisions on the release of assessment information from schools. It will also consider the 2009/10 Estimates for Votes Crown research institutes, Education, Education review Office, and Research, Science and Technology.

Emissions Trading Scheme Review

  • The committee did not meet this week, and will not be meeting next week.

Finance and Expenditure

  • The committee met on 11 June 2009 to continue further the Taxation (International Taxation, Life Insurance, and Remedial Matters) Bill.
  • The committee will next meet on 17 June to hear evidence on the 2009/10 Estimates for Vote Finance and Vote Revenue, and to continue its’ consideration of the Taxation (International Taxation, Life Insurance, and Remedial Matters) Bill.

Foreign Affairs, Defence and Trade

  • The committee did not meet this week.
  • The committee will next meet on 15 June to hear evidence from the Minister of Trade, Hon Tim Groser, on the 2009/10 Estimates for Vote Foreign Affairs and Trade. The committee will also consider the committee’s inquiry into New Zealand’s relationships with South Pacific countries
  • The committee will meet again on 18 June to consider the petition of Robert Ritchie, to hear evidence from the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Hon Murray McCully, on the 2009/10 Estimates for Vote Foreign Affairs and Trade, and to consider the Trade (Safeguard Measures) Bill, and the committee’s inquiry into New Zealand’s relationships with South Pacific countries.

Government Administration

  • The committee did not meet this week.
  • The committee will next meet on 17 June to consider the Eden Park Trust Amendment Bill and the 2009/10 Estimates.

Health

  • The committee will meet next on 17 June to consider further the 2009/10 Estimates for Vote Health.

Justice and Electoral

  • The committee will next meet in the afternoons of 16, 17 and 18 June to hear evidence on the Sale and Supply of Liquor and Liquor Enforcement Bill.
  • The committee will also meet in the morning of 18 June to hear evidence on the 2009/10 Estimates Vote for the Parliamentary Counsel and Attorney-General. Additionally the committee will consider the Privacy (Cross-border Information) Amendment Bill, the Criminal Investigations (Bodily Samples) Amendment Bill, the Sentencing (Offender Levy) Amendment Bill, and the Domestic Violence (Enhancing Safety) Bill.

Law and Order

  • The committee did not meet this week.
  • The committee will next meet on 17 June to hear further submissions on the Sentencing and Parole Reform Bill, and further consider the Gangs and Organised Crime Bill and the Corrections (Contract Management of Prisons) Amendment Bill.

Local Government and Environment

  • The committee met on 10 and 11 June to consider the Resource Management (Simplifying and Streamlining) Amendment Bill. On 11 June it also heard evidence from the Minister for the Environment, Hon Dr Nick Smith, on the 2007/08 two-yearly survey of local government performance under the Resource Management Act.
  • The committee will not meet next week.

Māori Affairs

  • The committee did not meet this week.
  • The committee will next meet on 17 June to hear evidence on its briefing on tobacco use and Māori. The briefing is open to the public. The committee will also consider the Whakarewarewa and Roto-a-Tamaheke Vesting Bill and its briefing on Māori educational achievement.

Primary Production

  • The committee did not meet this week.
  • The committee will next meet on 18 July to consider further the Aquaculture Legislation Amendment Bill (No 2), and to hear evidence on the 2009/10 Estimates for Vote Lands, and Vote Fisheries.

Regulations Review

  • The committee did not meet this week.
  • The committee will next meet on 18 June to consider recently promulgated statutory regulations, and regulation making powers in the Eden Park Trust Amendment Bill.

Social Services

  • The committee did not meet this week.
  • Next week, the committee will meet in Auckland on 15 June, and again in Wellington on 16 June, to hear evidence on the Unit Titles Bill. On 16 June the committee will also hear evidence on the 2009/10 Estimates for Vote Senior Citizens, and Vote Community and Voluntary Sector, and consider the Social Assistance (Payment of New Zealand Superannuation and Veterans Pension Overseas) Amendment Bill.
