Parliament Engagement Strategy 2018 - 2021

Published date: 24 Oct 2018

The Parliament Engagement Strategy 2018 - 2021, developed by the Office of the Clerk, aims to increase New Zealanders' engagement with Parliament.

The strategy recognises that it is no longer enough to just communicate with the public. It is now crucial for Parliament to actively engage with the public in order to maintain its relevance.

Implementing the strategy will require building on and enhancing the work already done to date. Vital to success will be strong partnerships, innovative approaches, and hard work. Enhanced public engagement will have long-term rewards and lead to life-long behavioural changes in people’s perceptions of Parliament.

Public engagement is key to democratic health.
