Submissions invited on Education (Update) Amendment Bill
The Education (Update) Amendment Bill aims to provide flexible, modern education focused on children and young people and their educational outcomes.
The bill would amend the Education Act 1989 to:
strengthen the efficiency, effectiveness and accountability of schools and the schooling network
increase flexibility in the enrolment and attendance requirements for the first year of learning
strengthen the legal framework for managing teacher competence issues
establish a legislative framework for online learning, and
improve the provision of careers services by the Government.
Submission now welcome
The Education and Science Committee is now inviting submissions on the Education (Update) Amendment Bill. The closing date for submissions is midnight on Friday, 11 November 2016.
