How Parliament works

A 90 minute programme which introduces the structure and work of Parliament. A brief overview is presented in the Education Centre followed by visits to various significant venues within the Parliament buildings. Subject to availability meeting the group’s electorate MP can also be arranged on request.

05 Hui-tanguru 2014
A debating role play

A two and a half hour programme designed for students Years 6 to 8. Students are presented with a brief overview of roles in Parliament including a visit to the debating chamber. This is followed by the opportunity to debate a mock bill in the Education Centre’s purpose built chamber.

Eye on the Hive programme

A two part programme with a focus on Parliament and the media. This programme is offered in collaboration with Capital E. Students spend 90 minutes at Parliament exploring the role of the media in Parliament. Post visit they have the opportunity to make a news programme based on Parliament at the Capital E television studio.

A Capital idea

A 90 minute programme which explores the establishment of Parliament in Wellington and the evolution of the Parliamentary precincts. A 15 minute presentation in the Education Centre is followed by venues within the Parliamentary precincts. Information can be tailored for a variety of levels. Available from July 27, 2015
