Acknowledging the passing of former Prime Minister, Rt Hon Jim Bolger
Last updated: 16 October 2025On Thursday 16 October, the House acknowledged the passing of former Prime Minister, Rt Hon Jim Bolger. He was the member for King Country from 1972 to 1996, and then for Taranaki - King Country from 1996 to 1998. He was Prime Minister from 1990 to 1997.
The House adjourned early as a mark of respect, after speeches in his memory. You can read the speeches here.
The Speaker of the House of Representatives, Rt Hon Gerry Brownlee, signed a condolence book alongside the Governor-General, Dame Cindy Kiro, and Prime Minister, Rt Hon Christopher Luxon.
The condolence book is available in the main foyer of the Executive Wing (Beehive), which members of the public are welcome to sign during Parliament’s opening hours. Please use the public entrance to the Executive Wing (Beehive).
