Notes on the contents of the Appendix
From December 1999 the sessional Appendix to the Journals consists of select committee reports (the I papers) together with other papers that have a close relationship with the operations of the House – such as Government responses to select committee recommendations and the Attorney-General’s reports under the New Zealand Bill of Rights Act. These latter are part of a new J series of papers.
The other papers published by order of the House are bound in the annual Parliamentary Papers volumes up to 2013.
All of these papers are published on this website individually at the time they are presented in the House, regardless of whether they are in the Appendix to the Journals or the Parliamentary Papers series.
More information about the historical volumes of the Appendices to the Journals from 1858 to 1950 is available in the Historical papers section.
Find all papers presented to the House since August 2002 (known as current papers). Papers presented are documents presented to the House by Ministers or the Speaker. They include annual reports, statements of intent, Budget documents, Law Commission, Auditor-General, and Commissions of Inquiry reports, international treaties, and regulations.
Many of these papers, along with select committee reports, are collected into two series of hardcopy bound volumes: Appendix to the Journals and Parliamentary papers.
The AtoJsOnline database on the National Library website contains digitised volumes of the Appendices to the Journals from 1858 to 1950.
