New Zealand Parliament Pāremata Aotearoa

Archive of inter-parliamentary visits: 2018

Parliament plays an important role in bringing together different political voices that characterise a healthy democracy and this also applies internationally with New Zealand engaging with other countries at a parliamentary level. Global connections and mutual understanding are formed with our members undertaking bilateral visits to other parliaments and our Parliament hosting a range of international delegations each year. These visits include official Guests of Parliament, bilateral, and study visits going both ways.

Bilateral visits also serve to strengthen the capability of our own Parliament, while promoting New Zealand to the world. Our democracy and Parliament are admired by many countries, in particular our select committee system and our innovative approaches to indigenous issues and gender equality. Visiting delegations learn about our parliamentary procedures and practice, observe debates and question time in action, and hear about our culture and history.
