Members of Parliament (MPs) can ask Ministers and other MPs oral questions in the House. This helps to make sure the Government is accountable to Parliament and to you.
In the 52nd New Zealand Parliament there are five parliamentary parties represented by 120 MPs. These MPs represent 64 general electorate seats and seven Māori electorates. The other 49 MPs are selected from the party lists.
Parliament's decisions affect all New Zealanders. Have your say and influence the laws passed by Parliament. You can get involved by voting in elections, contacting an MP, making a submission or petitioning Parliament.
