Visitor Centre facilities

There’s a wide range of information about Parliament available at the Visitor Centre.

If you want to visit the public galleries to watch the House in session, ask for directions from our Visitor Centre staff. We suggest you check the House sitting programme first (from the link on this page) to make sure that the House is sitting at the time of your visit.

Guided tours

Free, guided public tours of Parliament Buildings depart between 10am and 4pm daily.

Tour visitors must check their belongings into secure storage before joining a tour. Please arrive at least 15 minutes prior to the schedules tour to make sure you have enough time to do this.

Video, CD, and audio

At the Visitor Centre you can watch a 12-minute DVD about some of Parliament’s highlights; see historical images of Parliament on photo CD; and listen to recordings of famous political speeches.

Gift and souvenir shop

Our gift shop sells a range of gifts and souvenirs — there is something for every taste. You can even send a postcard from Parliament here, marked with our special Parliament postmark.

We do not have any food or drink to sell you at our Visitor Centre, but there are many cafes and sandwich shops just a short walk away. We do provide cold drinking water for visitors.

Eating and smoking are not allowed in the public areas of Parliament Buildings, but you are welcome to picnic in Parliament’s grounds. Please use the litter bins for your rubbish.
